New Cars that Would Add New Content to DiRT 4

Some of these cars will be additions to the current classes as well as some newer classes improving the playability of the game. From what I have seen from people already playing the game, Codemasters have done a great job with Career Mode but the categories can be improved with areas. With the WRC content not likely to appear, that will not make an appearance in this list as I aim to keep lists as realistic as possible.

1. Filling out R2

R2 is currently the lowest tier in the game and still looks a challenge to drive. However, with only 2 cars in the class, I feel it can be improved with cars such as the Peugeot 208 and the Citroen C2. However, the C2 looks much less likely than the 208 due to the lack of Citroens outside the PSRX DS3 Supercar. In addition to these 2, there are the Skoda Fabia and the Renault Twingo. Again, for whatever reason, there are no Skodas so the Fabia seems unlikely yet there are classic Renault cars in game making it possible if not realistic.

Personally surprised it’s not in and would add to a class.

2. R1

I know it seems an odd request wanting an even slower car class than R2. However, seeing as Codemasters opted to go through the R groups, I feel that omitting a few makes little sense as it gives players a truer feeling of progression going from R1 to R5 through Rs 2, 3 and 4 with the occasional deviation from that route adding some categories in between. Also, with it being a slower car, car control would have a larger emphasis as you’re not reaching those dizzying speeds that an R5 or modern WRC car would.

A Hyundai i20 R1. A good addition to this car class.

3. R3

I know this category is a similar point made by the R1 class request but it is important to hammer the point home. With cars such as the DS3, Toyota 86 and the Renault Clio, the attempts to get new manufacturers with rich histories in rallying offers the improvement in depth of other classes. Whether it’s an existing manufacturer like Renault or a new manufacturer like Toyota, it is equally important to expand as much as possible.

You already have the Super 1600 version, why not?

4. Super 1600 Rally

Yes, we have this class already in RallyX but why not in normal rallying or an expansion to the RX class? DiRT 4 already has the Renault Clio, Opel Corsa, and the VW Polo. What harm is there in further expanding this class bringing new cars in for RallyX as well as Rally? I would say absolutely none. In DiRT Rally even, there was a Peugeot 207 and I don’t see a reason for removing this.

Skoda. Many class expanding cars yet none are in DiRT 4. They can’t be too difficult.

5. Expanding 2000s WRC

Codemasters had decided to keep the 2000s WRC yet removing the Citroens in that class which is a shame. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes but I have a feeling it’s involving something in the future. Keeping the 2001 Impreza and Focus, I feel that they can improve on this looking at 2001 alone. In the 2001 WRC season, there are manufacturers such as Peugeot with their 206, Mitsubishi with their Lancer and Hyundai with their Accent. Even one of these would add some needed variety to this class.

The 2001 Hyundai Accent WRC. Isn’t it beautiful?

DiRT 4’s content concerns me that the game will have limited life in terms of content for a career mode and that adding more to Rally in locations and cars is surely the way to go forward. I am hoping DiRT 4 do have a DLC plan expanding and adding classes because I feel that the lifespan isn’t going to be the longest.
